THE GOLKONDA HOTEL BAGS THE STATE TOURISM AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
As the World Tourism Day draws near, the Golkonda Hotel – Hyderabad is yet again in the news, by winning the State Tourism Award of Excellence in ‘The best 4-star hotel’ category, for the year 2010-11. The award was presented on the World Tourism Day itself, on 27th September, 2011 at Telugu Lalithakala Thoranam, Public Gardens, Nampally, Hyderabad at 6.00 p.m.
The State Tourism Awards for hotels are based on the criteria of the hotel’s earnings and tourists handled, following a detailed evaluation. These prestigious awards were presented to classified hotels including heritage hotels, approved travel agents, and tour operators in recognition of their performance in their respective fields, aiming to encourage healthy competition and promote tourism. They were traditionally presented on World Tourism Day for various segments of Travel and Tourism Industry.
The Department of Tourism has been presenting Tourism Awards and Awards of Excellence for various segments of Travel and Tourism Industry from 2001 onwards. Awards are presented in the following categories : ‘Best Classified Star Hotels’, ‘Most Eco-Friendly Tourism Project’, ‘Best Film on AP Tourism, ‘Categorized Tour Operators’, ‘Best Theme-based Resort’, ‘Best Restaurant’ and more.
